MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – twenty eighth August, 2022) Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama has commented on the incident involving two Russian residents and one Ukrainian who have been detained after getting into the territory of an arms manufacturing facility within the Albanian metropolis of Gramsh, saying that the espionage prices the trio now face are “laughable.”

“The fog that rose over the so-called especially important sites was an occasion for tears and laughter. These are not even factories that produce weapons. They are declassified as sites of special significance. Their electricity was cut off… because they cannot afford to pay their electricity bills. They have several guards to protect them from encroachment. To say that espionage was carried out by fabricating the remnants of communism is very ridiculous. What should concern us is what were the real intentions of these people in our country. A spy mission with a sports car that looks like it’s yelling ‘catch me’ is laughable,” Rama stated on Saturday, as quoted by Albanian Daily information.

On August 20, Albanian media reported that two Russian residents, 33-year-old Svetlana Timofeyeva and 23-year-old Mikhail Zorin, in addition to Ukrainian citizen Fyodor Alpatov, have been detained in Albania for allegedly breaching a weapons manufacturing facility in Gramsh.

They are dealing with espionage prices for getting into the territory of the arms plant. The trio have denied the accusations. They say they weblog about deserted Soviet navy websites. The navy plant in Gramsh stays guarded regardless of being derelict.

The Albanian police stated its anti-terrorism unit is dealing with the case. It has been handed to the Elbasan judicial district prosecutor’s workplace for additional processing. Each cost the 2 Russians and the Ukrainian face carries a jail time period of as much as 10 years beneath the Albanian felony regulation.

The Russian Embassy in Albania advised Sputnik that it had not acquired any info from the Albanian authorities relating to the alleged detention of Russian residents in Gramsh, and had solely seen details about the alleged incident in Albanian media.
