“As of 8 April 2022, 150 cases (119 confirmed and 31 probable) have been reported in nine EU/EEA countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden) and the UK. The first case had a sampling date 21 December 2021 in the UK,” an announcement mentioned.

ECDC and the European meals Safety Authority (EFSA) printed the evaluation of the outbreak linked to chocolate merchandise made at a manufacturing unit within the Belgian metropolis of Arlon.

“The assessment outlines the rapid evolution of the outbreak. Most cases are children under ten years of age, with many being hospitalized,” the assertion learn.

On Friday, the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) quickly shut down the manufacturing unit of Italian confectionery firm Ferrero in Arlon over a wave of salmonella circumstances. The company recalled all merchandise made in Arlon, which embrace Kinder Surprise, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise Maxi and Kinder Schoko-Bons.
