Norways Prime Minister, EU Commission President Did Not Discuss Price Caps On Gas – Oslo

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – 08th September, 2022) Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen didn’t focus on the imposition of value caps on fuel throughout a phone dialog, the Norwegian cupboard mentioned on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Stoere advised the Financial Times newspaper that the Norwegian authorities may comply with a voluntary value cap.

“Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen held a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon on the difficult energy situation in Europe… Prime Minister Stoere noted that it is the gas producers who can make agreements with consumers in Europe. Price caps on gas were not a topic of discussion,” the cupboard mentioned on the web site.

On Wednesday, von der Leyen mentioned that the European Commission will suggest a value cap on Russian fuel and LNG (liquefied pure fuel) imports.

Last Friday, von der Leyen mentioned that the European Union may introduce limits on the worth of Russian pure fuel after G7 finance ministers confirmed their intention to impose value caps for Russian oil as a part of expanded sanctions towards the nation.

Moscow, in flip, pledged to cease exporting Russian oil to the states that may apply the bounds.

Since 2021, power costs in Europe have been rising as a part of a worldwide pattern of publish-COVID restoration. After the start of Russia’s navy operation in Ukraine and the adoption of a number of packages of sanctions towards Moscow by the West, gas costs have accelerated the expansion, pushing many European governments to resort to contingency measures.

As a part of the struggle towards the power disaster and plans to desert Russian fuel, some EU nations, together with Germany and France, are wanting into the restoration of coal-fired energy crops mothballed for local weather safety causes. This measure has raised concern amongst local weather activists because it contradicts the European Green Deal, adopted in 2019, which goals to chop carbon emissions and construct a useful resource-environment friendly and eco-pleasant economic system.
